Recyclers Are £1m Richer Thanks To O2 Recycle
March 17, 2010
With the gloomy news of the UK’s economy and the increase in protecting and looking after our planet there is little wonder that getting paid to recycle is proving to be such a popular success.
This success is illustrated from recent figures released from O2 recycle, who talk of paying out over £1 million to customers.
The popular mobile phone provider launched its mobile recycling service in October 2009. O2 recycle offers people the chance to get cash for recycling (therefore selling) their old and unwanted mobiles, mp3 players, digital cameras, game consoles and sat navs and state that payouts could be as much as £200 (as of March 2010).
If we take a wild guesstimate of £35 as an average payout then O2′s eco friendly recycling arm has paid out on over 28,00 unwanted mobiles etc.
O2’s UK marketing director Sally Cowdry commented: “We are committed to embedding sustainability at the core of our business, bringing environmentally friendly products and services to our customers, and making it easier for them to do their bit for the environment. The fact that we have reached the 1 million mark so quickly is testament to the popularity of O2 Recycle.”
If you are reading this thinking I would like to ‘sell my mobile‘ or wondering ‘how much I could receive for my old camera’ then simply log onto the O2 recycle website, just like so many other people have been, and see how much cash could be heading your way. As well as gaining some cash you will also be helping towards community projects as O2 donates £1 for each mobile phone recycled.
